"The specimens of music presented on this album, collected during a musicological mission undertaken in September 1966, emanate from the regions of Mouyondzi (Mouyondzi, Moandi), Boko (Mandombe, Louenga), and Kinkala (Kinkala, Ngambari, Manga-Hamon) in the Congolese Republic (...). They relate to four tribes of the Kongo group : the Ba-Bembe, the Ba-Congo, the Ba-Congo-Nseke and the Ba-Lari (or Ba-Lali)."
